Helping Them Today

Our STEM Initiative

Center for Technology Innovation and Invention Hub STEM initiative focuses on equipping children and adults in low-income communities in Africa with STEM Skills, irrespective of where they may live. Our programme is designed to give special attention to girls from these areas, to make it possible for them to measure up with the boys in the STEM fields. That is why we designed a special STEM programme called Girls STEM Squad.

Helping Them Today

Why are we Focussing on STEM

In today’s rapidly evolving world, STEM education is a key driver of innovation, economic empowerment, and social progress. Unfortunately, low-income communities often face limited access to quality STEM education, creating an opportunity gap. Our STEM Initiative seeks to bridge this gap by providing hands-on training, mentorship, and career pathways that equip students with real-world skills, opening doors to higher education and meaningful careers.

This initiative levels the playing field, equipping students with critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills needed for today’s workforce

STEM education nurtures innovation and creativity among students. By encouraging curiosity and hands-on experimentation, students can think outside the box, explore new ideas, develop innovative solutions to real-world problems and become change-makers in their communities.

STEM education can open doors to higher education opportunities for students from low-income backgrounds. Many universities offer STEM scholarships, and Center4Tech Hub will provide guidance and mentorship to help students access these opportunities.

STEM careers are growing faster than any other field. Cummins’ investment in this initiative ensures students gain skills directly applicable to high-demand industries.

STEM careers offer higher earning potential, helping students from underserved communities secure stable, well-paying jobs. By sponsoring STEM training, Cummins will be helping students from low-income communities break free from the cycle of poverty

STEM fields have historically needed more diversity, with underrepresentation of specific demographic groups. By emphasizing STEM education in low-income school districts, educators can empower underrepresented groups, including girls, minority students and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to pursue STEM careers. Increasing diversity in STEM fields brings fresh perspectives, and innovative ideas and promotes a more inclusive society.

STEM education equips students with the tools to tackle complex societal challenges like climate change, healthcare disparities and technological advancements. By nurturing a diverse group of STEM professionals from low-income school communities, we can bring different experiences and perspectives to the table, leading to more comprehensive solutions that address the needs of all communities.
